North Shore Volleyball is an effort by local parents to encourage participation in and increase the quality of volleyball in the Sea Cliff, Glen Head, and Glenwood Landing area of the north shore of Long Island. Our efforts involve three separate areas:
- We run and serve as coaches in the local CYO volleyball program, which is organized through St. Boniface church in Sea Cliff
- We operate camps, tournaments, clinics, and instructional programs
- We created and operate the new North Shore Volleyball Club, an official club registered with USA Volleyball, starting with one seventh grade team in the 2025 – 2026 season
This website is designed to provide accurate and updated information to parents who wish to help their daughters (or themselves) play volleyball and to everyone who wants to support volleyball in our area. For an outside perspective on us, see this article about North Shore volleyball in the Long Island Herald.
Volleyball is an amazing sport. It is relentlessly positive, with players encouraging each other after missed hits and successful ones equally. All six players on the court need to actively participate, so that no one star can dominate a team. Most importantly, players have fun – in practice and in games.
Volleyball in our area is growing and improving dramatically, thanks in no small part to our efforts:
- Participation in the 2025 CYO spring league grew from 105 to 130 girls in one year
- Earlier access to practice times in January meant more instruction before games begin
- Coaches participated in two “coach the coaches†sessions conducted by the North Shore High School coach
- Seven NSHS varsity volleyball players were assigned to six different teams as assistant coaches in the spring CYO session
- CYO Summer League in 2025 grew from 30 to 61 girls in one year
- We increased from one to three summer camps
- We hosted our first two tournaments in May and June 2025
- Fall instructional sessions grew from 20 girls to 80 girls in the fall of 2025
- We now operate a 20-person adult fun weekly session
